महावितरण, महापारेषण व महानिर्मिती या तिन्ही वीज कंपनीत सुमारे ३२,००० वीज कंत्राटी कामगार नियमित रिक्त पदांच्या जागेवर मागील १५ ते २० वर्षे कार्यरत आहेत. मागील वर्षभर कोरोना काळात या कामगारांनी वीज निर्मिती, वीजवहन, वीजवितरण करत आपला जीव धोक्यात घालून वीज पुरवठा तोडून वीज बिला पोटी विक्रमी महसूल गोळा करून दिला, राज्याला अखंडित व सुरळीत वीज पुरवठा सेवा देतांना ४० कंत्राटी कामगारांचा अपघातात मृत्यू झाला.मात्र यांच्याकडे शासनाने सोयीस्कर दुर्लक्ष केले असे मत महाराष्ट्र वीज कंत्राटी कामगार संघ यांनी व्यक्त केले.
कार्य बजावत असताना निधन झालेल्या कामगार कुटुंबियांना आर्थिक मदत मिळणे गरजेचे आहे. त्याच बरोबर उर्जा खात्यातील कंत्राटी कामगारांनी कोरोना काळामध्ये राज्याला महसूल मिळवून दिला, अखंडित व सुरळीत वीज सेवा दिली हा त्यांचा गुन्हा आहे का ? काम करून पगारा साठी आज कामगारांना २-३ महिने ताटकळत बसावे लागत आहे. याला जबाबदार कोण ?
अनेक प्रलंबित व न्याय मागण्या साठी संघटनेने जुन २०२० पासून अनेकदा पत्रव्यवहार केला असून विविध आंदोलने देखील झाली मात्र अद्याप संघटनेसोबत चर्चा झाली नाही. त्या मुळे नाईलाजास्तव महाराष्ट्र शासन, मुख्यमंत्री, ऊर्जामंत्री, प्रधान सचिव ऊर्जा, सह सचिव ऊर्जा, वीज कंपनी प्रशासनाचे लक्ष वेधून घेण्यासाठी राज्यातील सर्व वीज कंत्राटी कामगार मंगळवार दिनांक ११ मे २०२१ रोजी महाराष्ट्र शासनाच्या व वीज कंपनी प्रशासनाच्या निषेधार्थ काळ्या फिती लावून काम करतील याची नोंद घ्यावी अशी माहिती महाराष्ट्र वीज कंत्राटी कामगार संघ यांनी दिली.
